ArtsAVL is growing, and we are seeking two experienced leaders to join our team at an important moment for arts and culture in Buncombe County and Western North Carolina.
Founded in 1952, ArtsAVL is the designated arts agency for Buncombe County and a leading arts and creative economy intermediary serving Western North Carolina. Through connection, advocacy, and grants, ArtsAVL works to strengthen the arts ecosystem, advance creative sector development, support recovery and resilience efforts, and ensure the arts remain at the heart of our communities.

Communications & Engagement Director
The Communications & Engagement Director leads ArtsAVL’s communications, marketing, membership, audience engagement, Creative Portal strategy, and earned revenue initiatives. This position plays a key role in increasing visibility, participation, and engagement across Buncombe County’s arts ecosystem while supporting broader regional initiatives throughout Western North Carolina.
Salary range: $75,000–$80,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience
Work environment: Full-time, hybrid/flexible
Finance & Operations Director
The Finance & Operations Director oversees ArtsAVL’s financial management, operations, human resources, technology systems, risk management, and administrative infrastructure. This position plays a key role in strengthening organizational sustainability, supporting growth, and ensuring responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
Salary range: $75,000–$80,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience
Work environment: Full-time, hybrid/flexible
