Our local arts sector has been decimated by Hurricane Helene, but is still showing up for the community we love in many creative ways. Our artists have turned rubble into public art, distribution centers into concert halls and concert halls into distribution centers, captured the beauty in our devastation, and given us the words to express our grief.

Arts AVL Launches Emergency Relief Grant to Meet Immediate Needs of Artists Impacted by Hurricane Helene

Monday, October 14, ArtsAVL launches its Emergency Relief Grant to meet the immediate needs of artists impacted by Hurricane Helene. The grant provides $500 relief stipends to arts professionals living in the 25 counties of Western NC impacted by Hurricane Helene. The grant is intended for individual artists working in craft, literary, media, performing, visual, and interdisciplinary arts. WNC Artists can go to artsavl.org/aid to view full grant guidelines and apply.

Western North Carolina artists of all disciplines substantially impacted by Hurricane Helene are invited to apply for ArtsAVL Emergency Relief Grant. The grant opens on Monday, October 14 and will award $500 stipends to arts professionals working in visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, music, film, choreography, interdisciplinary arts, and more.

ArtsAVL has compiled a list of emergency support resources for artists and arts organization impacted by disaster like the recent flooding in our area due to Hurricane Helene. Also, please consider making a donation to support our relief efforts.

Arts AVL State of the Arts Brunch Returns this October

Local arts advocates can now reserve tickets ($75) for the 2024 State of the Arts Brunch, taking place Thursday, October 24 from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Embassy Suites by Hilton Asheville Downtown.

Arts AVL Opens Grant Application for City of Asheville’s Event Support Grant

Between September 9 and October 14, eligible nonprofit organizations can apply for financial support for events that are free, open to the public, and permitted within Asheville’s streets, parks, and outdoor public spaces. Grants typically range from $3,000-$10,000, but the amount can vary depending on the organization’s needs.

Arts AVL Announces Twenty Arts Build Community Grant Awardees

ArtsAVL is pleased to share that twenty Buncombe County organizations have been awarded Arts Build Community (ABC) grants. The 2024-25 grants range from $1,000 to $2,500 and will support community-based arts programs in a wide range of disciplines.
