New website features

Arts AVL Aims to be a Central Hub for Local Arts

ArtsAVL’s refreshed website features events, jobs and volunteer positions, and a directory of the creative community

Visitors to ArtsAVL’s website now have access to new interactive, searchable features – a calendar of arts events, job and volunteer opportunities, and an artist directory. These resources support ArtsAVL’s mission to keep the arts at the heart of our community. Since their launch, these new tools have fast become an essential tool for longtime locals, new residents, and visitors who want to plug into Asheville’s vibrant creative culture.

The redesigned ArtsAVL website includes an events calendar highlighting events in categories including professional development/networking, music, exhibitions and openings, festivals and fairs, classes and demos, performance, art walks and studio tours, and public art. K.P. Whaley, Executive Director and General Manager of nonprofit community radio station Asheville FM, shares that the website is not only a great way to feature station events, but is also a resource for “other events that are happening,” which can then be shared with the station’s listening community.

Also featured on the site: Opportunities, which include job listings, calls for volunteers, workshops for creatives, space rentals, and up-to-date information on grants and funding. “I am thrilled that ArtsAVL is adding this to their website,” says ArtsAVL donor and supporter Karen Milnes. “It seems like a logical first place to look if someone is interested in volunteering in the arts in Asheville.”

The Directory will facilitate connection between interested community members, including prospective collectors and audiences, with member artists and arts organizations. “Asheville has a vast array of creative talent – encompassing so many styles, genres, and mediums,” says Justin Rabuck, co-founder of The Big Crafty and Horse & Hero. “The resources on ArtsAVL’s website will make connections possible between artists, projects, and creatives of all sorts. Folks who might have gone under the radar will be more findable for hire and collaboration. We are so excited to see this come to fruition.”

Former Blue Ridge Public Radio General Manager, ArtsAVL board member, and arts enthusiast David Feingold notes that “many people choose to live in Asheville because of the richness of our creative community. The launch of the new website is a boon to those of us who are keen to more deeply experience Asheville’s dynamic and diverse cultural life.”
